It's come to my attention that the creators of the KONY 2012 are not giving out the whole truth. See the below link:

According to that tumblr account, the invisible children organization only contributes 32% of their donations to the cause with the rest going to their pockets, covering travel/equipment costs, and any other expenses. It's to be expected that they need some money for travel and housing, but 32% is just too low. If they can afford to put money in their own pockets they can afford to give more to the cause than just a measly 32%.I still think the main message is a wonderful one: the awareness of Joseph Kony needs to be raised, and he needs to be stopped. Ubisoft's new action survival game "I am Alive" recently received an official trailer for it's UK release highlighting some of the gameplay for the upcoming title for the 360's XBLA and PS3 PSN. It has the eerie apocalyptic of Resident Evil and Silent Hill without all the surrealistic hellish creatures. Instead the enemies are other human's fighting for survival.

Sony Online Entertainment announced that players can now download and play its popular massively multiplayer online action game DC Universe Online for free. Starting today, all PC and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system players can create their own legendary superhero – or villain – and join forces with their favorite DC Comics characters, including Superman, Batman and the Joker to either save – or destroy – the planet.

“We are confident that going free-to-play will expand the action combat experience of DC Universe Online by making the game more accessible to every type of player so they can choose to play the game their way,” said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. “With a portfolio that includes three successful free-to-play games – EverQuest II: Extended, Free Realms and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures – we have extensive knowledge and experience to apply to DCUOand are thrilled to be taking the game free-to-play today.”

There are three access levels in DCUO: Free, Premium and Legendary. All three levels will provide access to the game and include all game updates and fixes to the game, with each level offering differing game options and features. Free Access: New players now have access to the base game content in DC Universe Online, including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts outside of DLC packs. BioWare has finally announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will launch in North America on December 20, 2011 and in Europe on December 22, 2011. Sony Online Entertainment announced a new free-to-play business model for its popular massively multiplayer online (MMO) game DC Universe Online (DCUO) — where players have the freedom to become legendary fighting alongside DC Comics icons like Superman, Batman and The Joker in an ever-evolving online action adventure that has already logged more than 42 million hours of super-powered gameplay action by players since its launch earlier this year.

Beginning late October, players will be able to download and access DCUO for free on both the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and PC. As part of this transition, SOE is introducing three new access levels to the game: Free, Premium and Legendary. All three levels will provide access to open world gameplay and missions, general game updates and fixes to the game, with each level offering different game options and benefits.

Finally, from October 7th - 9th the Benefit Evil Team will be broadcasting a live, online marathon to raise money for the Child’s Play Charity. The event beings at 2pm (EST) on Friday and goes until 10pm (EST) on Sunday.

Child’s Play donates books, toys, and games to children’s hospitals around the world in an effort to make the patients lives more comfortable. For three days viewers will be able to tune in online at www.benefitevil.com and watch the team try their best to eliminate every zombie they can get their hands on in the Resident Evil Series of games. The team will encourage the viewer to make a donation using the secure donation box located on their website.

The webcast will feature a live, picture in picture stream for the duration of the event. In the larger picture the viewer will be able to watch the team as they battle the evil hoards from the comfort of their living room. Voyeurs delight! In the smaller picture the current live game footage will be displayed. There will be no emulators used during this event. All games will be streamed live from the consoles they will be played on.

The audience will also be able to participate by talking with the team themselves. They will be able to do this in several ways; a live chat room is featured next to the video stream, they may email the team using the provided email, and they can also tweet the team.

Sex, drugs, and... video games?

Gay men are just like everyone else. Their interests vary, and of course include video games. In a world where you're constantly barraged with being called a fag on Xbox live, sometimes it's nice to just find yourself a place where you can play video games with people like yourself. Thus, Gaymers (Gay gamers) have created groups in order to mingle and have a good time while enjoying the thing they love most: Video games.

It's great to go somewhere and not have to worry about being insulted the whole time you're gaming it up on black ops. However, like anywhere else, you have those who use the group for their own personal gain. Enter the Houston Gaymers:

On the surface the Houston Gaymers seem like your everyday gaming group. They have monthly meetings where they get together at the Fairview in Downtown Houston, Texas. Usually they hook up systems to TVs, geek it out, drink, eat, and make merry. Your typical queer folks playing SSBB, no biggie. As a gamer I found it refreshing, so I decided why not? I love video games, and maybe they'll be different. You see, gay men have a reputation for being stuck up, shallow, drama loving, and mean spirited. For this reason alone I do my best to steer clear of Gay oriented groups. It's not stereotyping when it's true. If you meet a gay man who isn't like that, he's the exception not the rule.

That being said, after hanging out on their Facebook page for a few weeks, their first meet-up came along, so I decided to come along and give it a chance. I was not disappointed! Everything was exactly how I expected it. The main "leaders" of the group; Jacques Bourgeois, Lee Longoria, and Eric Hulsey were cold and uninviting. I tried making small talk to get to know them, however they felt it necessary to ignore and shun me from their usual group. Within this particular Gaymer group, just as it is within most gay circles, there are cliques. Your "pretty" guys, your rich guys, your "popular" (meaning slutty) guys, and your guys who are actually there for, you know, video games. It was alot like High school.

Like that, only pathetic and humorless.

So I'm like, "Ok, maybe I'm just imagining things. Maybe they're just busy as they're the group leaders. They've got more important things like.... drinking, and.... drinking..." I play a few rounds of SSBB and MVC3, start chatting it up with some of the non bitchy guys, and actually have a good time. Until someone offers me a bump of cocaine...

I laughed it off at first because obviously he was joking! Of course that lasted for about 2.5 seconds after I looked at him and he wasn't laughing. Not even grinning. I politely declined, and went back to what I was doing. I mean sure, it's a bar in the middle of downtown. There's a bunch of guys here, so some druggies are to be expected. I tried getting that image out of my head, and continued to try and have a good time. As it got later guys started to leave in pairs, threes, and sometimes fours. Surely they rode together, nothing out of the ordinary there. That is, until a couple of the guys ask if I want to come over. More video games, right? I mean sure, it's late, but I remember gaming it out with my friends till four in the morning, even later. We're all young, so why not?

Totally trustworthy, right?

I'm totally up for it since I'm running short on gaming buddies, and it had been a while since I was out. I introduce myself, and they introduce themselves. Then they start making out. Ok, they're dating each other! I second guess my decision since I'm not one to be a third wheel. No worries there! One of the guys pulls me from my hips and tries to kiss me. I push him away, and ask him what the hell he's doing! That's when I hear a commotion coming from across the room. Two guys are going at it because supposedly one of them stole something from the other. I take that as my cue to exit, grab my friend, and we get the hell out of there as quickly as we could. I then proceeded to shower vigorously.

Must get clean... out damned spot!

The next day everyone on the Facebook page praised at how amazing the meet up was. It was business as usual, and I couldn't believe I was the only one freaked out about the night's events. It took a few days for me to build the courage to do so, but finally I posted a question about the night under my psudo name. It read:

"I heard that there was a lot of Drama at the last meeting, and somebody was stealing people's things. Is that true?"

Of course Eric, being the mature tactful leader that he is did the only rational thing. He deleted my post.

Nothing makes me feel invigorated like being a dick

I didn't bother anymore. I announced that I was disappointed in this group. It perpetuated the stereotype that there can't be a gay oriented group unless there's lots of drugs, sex, and cliquing involved. I should have seen it coming though. Lee and Jacques were always rude and unwelcoming on the facebook page, and they fully embrace just about every gay stereotype out there. It goes without saying I'm no longer a part of the group. STD free is the way to be! That just goes to show you, don't trust a group you discover at a Gay pride celebration without first checking them out.

The key point is that the game allows you to "use your whole body" to fight your way through hordes of creatures. The title is exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360, and comes out in September 2011.

Today Sega revealed Naked Terror, the first of two exclusive levels from The House of the Dead: Overkill- Extended Cut.

Naked Terror has you fighting your way through a strip club (a real hardship, I know), the dark and dirty streets of Bayou City and a back roads dive bar. New DLC for Black-ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops detonates its latest downloadable content pack on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC with the release of Annihilation, the third DLC pack for the series.

Fans have logged billions of hours in Call of Duty: Black Ops since its record-setting debut in 2010. Annihilation packs four of the most varied and intense Black Ops maps to date, along with a new Zombies experience filled with countless hours of new gameplay.

The Annihilation content pack includes:

“Hangar 18,” buried deep within the military black site Area 51, where gamers will battle through experimental weapons labs, the SR-71 test hangar and a mysterious autopsy room.

“Drive-In,” where players engage in close-quarters combat through a 1960s drive-in theater, complete with snack shack and a classic arcade.

Nintendo 3DS price cut

Due to the significant drop in profit for Nintendo, they are cutting the price of the 3DS by nearly half of its original cost; from $249.99 to $169.99

Nintendo reported a net loss of $328 million for Q1 2011 (April-June) due to a 50% drop in sales compared to last year. This prompted Nintendo to reduce its net profit forecast for the year to $257 million, down from a previous estimate of $1.4 billion.

Nintendo says that the cause of the loss of profit was due to a lack of hit games, a stronger yen against the dollar, and costs of 3DS promotion. The company hopes that the significantly reduced price of the 3DS will generate momentum before the holiday shopping season.

Personally I think this was a smart move on the behalf of Nintendo. From the time it's original selling price was announced, the gaming community (aside from the crazed fans) agreed that $250 for the device was laughable. At the very least they're trying to cut their losses, which turns out good for those of us not willing to shelve out $250. I wonder though if this means that Nintendo will sway their focus from content for the 3DS. I suppose time will tell.

Family Guy Online

Looks like Family guy creators are going to be releasing a MMO game based on the show. Family Guy Online is a free-to-play, browser-based, 3D multiplayer game. All you need is a browser with the awesome Unity Web Player installed, and a web connection of course. You can create a character, become a citizen of virtual Quahog, and play and interact with your friends and favorite show characters.

Family Guy Online will launch exactly later this year, but you can create your character now, with the Character Creator. This is an awesome tool that allows you to create and customize your own Family Guy Online character. The character you create will be the one you play once open beta starts, and if you register now and stuff, you have a much better chance of being part of the closed beta.

The Associated Press has confirmed that Amy Winehouse, age 27, was today found dead in her home. No news as to how she died, but many speculate drug overdose due to her constant substance abuse.

She was a great artist, but could not bear the life she lived. In life she was a lost soul, and I hope she has now finally found peace.
